In addition to main art projects, students had opportunities to complete additional art projects for extra credit. These options ranged from new projects, to chalk art, to finishing art they began while still physically in school. I loved watching extra credit projects roll in because it really felt like students were creating art at home because they wanted to! Nice work Art 1!!

For this project students created a drawing or painting that in some way reflects their identity. I was really impressed with the way they turned out and it was fun learning about students along the way. Thanks for sharing!
'For this project students learned a bit about artist Wassily Kandinsky, an abstract artist who's work is inspired by music. Students created a non-objective drawing or painting at home. Once again, I'm super impressed at your work ethic and commitment to art at home. Nice job Art 1!
On-line school has presented its own unique challenges, but it did not stop these students from completing their work! This was the first art project done online. For this assignment students explored various types of line. Nice work students! I'm super impressed.
We are surrounded by color. In Art 1, we experienced how the three primary colors can create all the colors on the color wheel. We learned about various color schemes, and how they can make an artwork flow. For this project, students chose a color scheme and created a drawing using oil pastels. I think they turned out awesome! Nice job
For our first unit we studied Value. Students chose an image and they did a value drawing using three different types of pencils with different harnesses ranging from 4H-6B. Students used the grid method to help them draw correct sizing and proportion. I think students did an awesome job on these. Way to go Art 1!
I am very excited for this semester in Art 1! We are going to have a lot of fun! Please review the disclosure for more information on the course.
For this unit we reviewed two elements of art: shape and form. For this project student were challenged to create a clay tile that includes geometric and/or organic shapes. We used Air Dry clay and students painted their creations with acrylic paint once they were dry. They turned out super cool! Nice work students!

Texture is the way the surface of an object feels or looks like it feels. For this unit we studied texture. We talked about the difference between actual and implied texture. We also reviewed various watercolor techniques. In Art 1 students were challenged to create a watercolor painting that incorporates texture. Students did a great job! Impressive work!
