For our first unit we studied Value. Students chose an image and they did a value drawing using two different types of pencils with different harnesses. Students used the grid method to help them draw correct sizing and proportion. I think students did an awesome job on these. Way to go Art 1!

For our third unit we studied Value. Students chose an image and they did a value drawing using three different types of pencils with different harnesses ranging from 4H-6B. Students drew a grid on their image so their drawing was less daunting. I think students did an awesome job on these. Way to go Art 1!

During this unit we studied Value and photographer Ansel Adams. Each student chose an Ansel Adams photograph to replicate. We started by drawing a grid on the photo. The grid broke down our intimidating landscape into 24 small drawings that essentially looked like mini-value scales. I think students did an awesome job creating a range of light and dark value! Great Job Art 1!
