Art Lessons
Highland High School Art Program
A message from the Highland High School Art teachers...
If students are interested in Painting and Drawing, we encourage them to take at least one art class each year. Their freshman year they can take either Foundations II or Painting. In either case they need to make sure they sign up for the full year by signing up for the “studio” version of the same class.
Foundations II is the high school version of Art 1 and Art 2. We try hard to vary the media and build on the knowledge gained in middle school. We also encourage new artists to take this class as we make sure the class challenges both top talent artists as well as beginners.
Painting is an intermediate/advanced art class. We encourage artists that have a solid understanding of the elements and principles of art to take this class as a stepping stone towards AP studio their senior year. This class focuses on Acrylic, Watercolor, Oil, and multimedia painting techniques.
