For this project Art 2 students created a mixed media piece using watercolor and pen and ink. They explored emphasis and the rule of thirds.
Emphasis: An area or object that draws attention and becomes a focal point Rule of Thirds: a general guideline for how to create an interesting composition. This guideline involves placing the subject matter to one side of the picture plane and not in the center for a more interesting composition. Lesson plan idea and credit to: createartwithme.com/border-art-lesson/ This unit we explored color, shape, balance and variety. We studied and explored Wassily Kandinsky's work and created non-objective abstract paintings inspired by his work.
This lesson was inspired by: http://createartwithme.com/wassily-kandinsky-non-objective-color-pencil-and-watercolor-pencil-painting/ This was a fun project to start off the year. The medium we used was watercolor paint and sharpies. We talked about line, shape, color, and pattern. I think they turned out great! Good Job Art 2!
