Each day, students draw in their sketchbooks for the first 10 minutes of class. I have provided them with a Menu of choices, and they get to choose the assignments that look most interesting to them. Here are a few sketches that I thought really hit it out of the park! Nice work!

For our second unit we studied Value. Students chose an image and they did a value drawing using three different types of pencils with different harnesses ranging from 4H-6B. Students drew a grid on their image so their drawing was less daunting. I think students did an awesome job on these. Way to go Art 2!
In Art 2 we spent the first two weeks getting to know each other. For one assignment, each table received a brown bag with found objects in each bag. Each table chose a task and had to create that task from the contents in their bag. The results were pretty creative and it served as a great way to get students working together.
We also created get to know you Shields. Students used Prisma colored pencils and had to fill the entire background with color. The shield needed to represent things about them. The year is starting off right! Our final assignment was an independent project. Students got to choose the subject matter and what ever medium they wanted! Students really enjoyed the freedom of this assignment.
Each day students drew in their sketchbooks at the beginning of class. They got to choose which sketchbook assignments they wanted to do. Some projects were longer and some were shorter. I think students enjoyed the freedom of this assignment!
Students created a mixed media piece on their sketchbook covers. They used magazines, clip art, acrylic paint and much more! They turned out great!
We started off this unit by talking about different types of balance and various color schemes. Students created one asymmetrical design using a combination of geometric and organic shapes. Students painted each section using monochromatic, complimentary, split-complimentary and analogous color schemes. This project allowed students to discover how different colors react with each other. I think they turned out awesome! Nice work.
This was a fun project to start off the year. The medium we used was watercolor paint and sharpies. We talked about line, shape, color, and pattern. I think they turned out great! Good Job Art 2!
